Coulscott House & Holiday Cottages Exclusive Self-Catering in the West Country

Coulscott is set in the countryside, which of course does have hazards different from those of towns and cities. Please make sure that all members of your party are aware of this fact and particularly that children are supervised to a level appropriate to their age and maturity. Here are a few matters to be aware of but it is essential that all generally use their common sense.

Our grounds are steep in parts and may be slippery at times. There are ponds and streams. There are all sorts of items from machinery to piles of logs that should be left alone. Plants may be poisonous. There may be animals such as cattle and sheep in our fields that should be treated with caution. They may particularly react  to dogs. Do not keep a dog close to you or on a lead near to cattle.

The swimming pool  is open from 9am to 8pm but may be closed otherwise for maintenance. Keys are given to guests. Please ensure that only responsible adults have custody of these and that the building is always left locked. Please observe the usual common-sense rules for pools.

  • No unaccompanied swimmers or unsupervised under 14 year-olds please
  • Please do not wear shoes in the building or take any glass objects in
  • No smoking of course as in all Coulscott buildings please
  • Please do not run, jump or dive
  • Please do not swim when having drunk alcohol
  • Young children should wear swimming aids
The equipment on the children’s play area should be used only under proper supervision. In particular the trampoline should only be used by one person at a time, and should not be used with shoes on.  Somersaults or flips should not be attempted as landing on head or neck is dangerous. No hard objects should be worn or carried. Only bounce in the center of the trampoline. The climbing frame and swings have obvious risks. Please closely supervise younger children to ensure their safety. Please make sure that older children are aware of their responsibility to others in using the equipment and particularly when using the swings

Coulscott is old and its buildings have eccentricities. There are, for example, unexpected steps, low ceilings, lintels and beams. Stairs and floors may be out of true. There is the odd sharp corner or protuberance. Please take time and care so that there are no accidents. If you need a mat in the shower or anything else to safeguard your safety please let us know. Please report any problems to us.

Please show consideration for other people staying at Coulscott. In particular please keep noise to a minimum. If you have a dog with you please control it and clear up after it.
