Set in a secluded wooded valley in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty a very short distance from the Exmoor National Park and close to the spectacular North Devon Coast, it has the appearance of a small private hamlet. There are no other houses within a quarter of a mile. Coulscott is set in 16 acres, much of it open to guests. It has woodland, streams and a pond and is home to badgers, foxes, buzzards, owls and much more wildlife. Sheep and cows graze the surrounding steep meadows that shelter it on three sides. Down the valley are lovely views over rolling fields and woods with scarcely a building in sight. The village of Combe Martin is less than mile away winding down its valley to a pretty sheltered beach. Exmoor, with England’s highest cliffs, its sea coves and many lovely walks is very close and still relatively undiscovered. Its moors are cut by steep wooded combes including the famous Doone Valley. It is littered with prehistoric remains, ancient churches and unspoiled villages. Directions: |
